Go from Dream to Done
Want to Create a New Way of Being?
Taking action in your life is a personal decision and it’s a journey all your own. Having the drive to change your physical, emotional, or mental well-being is a good start, but sometimes that drive isn’t enough to change us. Here are five steps to help you turn a Dream into a Goal and a Goal into DONE:
Name what you want to change
It’s important that you know exactly what you want to address. You could have a lot of different reasons for changing your diet or your job. Getting “healthier” or “ a new job” may be too general to help you get where you want to be. It’s all about defining what you are searching for!
2. Set realistic goals
Our bodies and our brains can only process a few changes at a time. It’s important to do some internal listening and notice when you feel at your limit. Write out realistic goals. Don’t aim too high, just to be let down. It’s all well and good to have an awesome end goal, but break it down into smaller goals so you can eventually get there without getting burnt out.
3. Make a timeline
You’re planning on going to NuPower class three times a week? Awesome! Now get that on the books for next week too! What days will you attend class? Will you go before work, or after work? Who can you invite to go with you? When do you want to start coming to class four times a week? Write these goals down in a calendar so you have a place to store your intentions!
4. Stay Accountable
Here’s where other humans can really help. Tell your friends and your family about your dreams and ask for help making them a reachable goal! This will help you get your intentions out to the world and into the hands of those who love and support you. An honest friend is sometimes all you need. We all need cheerleaders sometimes to rally alongside us, especially when our willpower is tested.
The truth is action cures fear and empowers us to achieve things we never thought possible. Follow these steps and take control of your future!
