5 Reasons to Foam Roll Every Damn Day
What I’m about to tell you isn’t ground-breaking, but it’s important, so listen up: start foam rolling!
It’s one of those things that seems like it would be simple and easy, but for some reason most people forget about it or put it off. But trust me, while the process may seem boring, it works wonders for your body and mind. Check out the five reasons to foam roll below!
Break up scar tissue
It’s super important to breakup scar tissue for the sake of your muscle and bone health. Foam rolling is like a massage, but better because you get to put targeted pressure on your fascia, releasing points of pain or tension.
Improves your range of motion
Yoga isn’t the only way to increase flexibility! Foam rolling relieves tension in the muscles, giving the body the ability to move freely! This takes pressure off the joints and allows for more dynamic moves during yoga.
Skip the massage
Foam rollers achieve the same physical benefit as a massage for a much cheaper price tag. Also the convenience of having your own personal massager whenever you need it is a plus! No more fusing with appointments when you can roll the pain away on your schedule.
Improves circulation and removes toxins
The process of foam rolling helps stimulate circulation from head to toe! The lymphatic system is then triggered in the process to help push toxins out of the body. Fewer toxins encourage better oxygen delivery to the cells, improving circulation and rejuvenation!
You don’t always have to end a yoga session with foam rolling; you can start with it too! When you start with foam rolling, you’re getting rid of any inert energy in the muscles. It’s a great way to prepare the body for movement and to help you get the most out of your session. At the end of your practice make sure to foam roll again so you can increase recovery time and aid in the healing process.
