Three Great New Year’s Resolutions for a Yogi
Celebrating the New Year is fun for a lot of reasons. We gather together with friends and family, reminisce about the last year and look ahead for what is to come. Many people set goals and resolutions for the next year. Similar to how yogis set an intention before practice, it can be helpful to set an intention for your year.
Here are three great New Year’s Resolutions for any yogi - whether you are a seasoned yoga teacher or have never taken a class, these goals will challenge you and bring out your best self.
Do more yoga
Set a practice goal for this year. As a studio, we have set a 2020 Challenge where we are encouraging people to practice 20 times in the first 30 days of the New Year. Join us for 20 classes in January and you will receive a FREE exclusive long sleeved “Namaste Y’all” t-shirt!
If this is easy for you, try taking a different type of class or try a new teacher. Our practice is ever evolving and trying new things helps us grow.
Drink more water
One of the fastest ways to feel healthier and happier is to drink more water. Have a hard time remembering to stay hydrated? Go pick out a fun water bottle and keep it with you. This is one of the easiest changes you can make that will have the biggest impact.
Speak kindly to yourself
We are often hardest on ourselves. Think about your inner dialogue. Would you say those things to your friend? No! You would be kind and gracious. You would cut your friend some slack and be proud of who they are. We need to extend the same level of consideration that we do our friends. Set an intention this year to be proud of yourself and to care for your heart as you do others.
Do you have other New Year’s goals? Share them with us! We want to cheer you on!
